Ben who is a student at Northampton School for Boys in England has raised £2,000 (MWK2 million) for his trip to Malawi scheduled for July, 2016.

Ben was accompanied by his friend Phillips, his father and his colleague also joined the youngsters cycling from Northampton School for Boys to the Malawi House in Central London.

“It was tiresome but owesome,” said Ben on arrival at the Malawi House where he was welcomed by diplomats led by First Secretary (Finance) Mr. Peter Chilinda.

“We welcome Ben’s commitment to help fellow young people in Malawi. This a demonstration of the spirit of volunteerism and caring of other people at such a young age. We are proud to have Ben and the whole class as honorary ambassadors of goodwill which will inspire his fellow youngsters in Malawi,” said Chilinda.

Ben is expected to travel with 20 other students for three weeks, with the schools fund committing at least £10,000 (MWK10 million) for the three week voluntary project which will see the children rehabilitate the school and provide basic amenities.

“The excitement has been huge on his part. He has been mowing people’s lawns, sale small items and cut hedges to raise funds for this cause. I am really proud of him,” his mother Julie Holland said.

The school has been undertaking the trips since 2014 and this year apart from the volunteer work, the MK Dons a well-known British football club, has donated a football kits for an interactive social games the visiting students will play with their counterparts.
