The Malawi High Commission to the United Kingdom has facilitated the formation of the Malawi UK Business group whose agenda is to serve as a platform bringing together stakeholders, individuals, professionals and businesspersons from Malawi and the UK, the Mission, and individuals to facilitate maximum business flow and create new investment opportunities to Malawi.

High Commissioner Kena Mphonda said when he hosted the first meeting in London on November 4th, 2017, that it would act as a link between businesses in the UK and Malawi.

The meeting agreed the core objectives of the group to include creation and facilitation of business opportunities and providing direct market access for British and Malawian companies, in all sectors, create a wider awareness of trade and investment opportunities in Malawi to the UK businesses, and to explore new strategies for improving trade and engaging with one another effectively, ensure that concerns of businesses in both countries are addressed and to explore opportunities for cooperation and for inward/outward investment into selective sectors of the UK and Malawi economies and organise business missions to Malawi.

Charities leaning towards business and economic empowerment activities will be welcome to join the group and according to the High Commissioner, the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre will be the link in Malawi. The first meeting which received a record turn up elected a working group that will facilitate the groups work which includes Mr. Dumisani Kapanga, Mr. Derick Sanyahumbi, Mr. Harry Bhika, Mr. Dominic Webb, Mr. Kena Mphonda, Mr. George Ajassi, Mr. David Hope-Jones, Mr. Alex Sukali, Mr. Michael Chuter , Mr. Salim Lorgat, Mr. Tony Phiri, Mr. Julius Chitseko, Ms. Mariam Green, Mr. Alex Sapala and Mr. Tomike Olafusi.
